Title:The Object of my Obsession Author:Janie Email: janie@jmangham.freeserve.co.uk Rating: PG-13 Category: ?/? Size: 5K SUMMARY: Someone's obsession, as seen through hir eyes. The Object of my Obsession. Since she came into my life, I've been a man reborn. It was love at first sight, but as is usually the case, her heart belonged to someone else at that time. I had to make do with worshipping her from afar, hoping that one day, maybe, things might be different, that one day I might be able to reach out and touch her. I bided my time, getting to know her as best I could within the constraints laid upon us, until suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, my chance was there for the taking, albeit born from misfortune. So desperate was I not to screw up, I nearly blew it by treating her too gently. I was soon to learn that despite her delicate appearance, she could take it on the chin like a seasoned fighter. My father once told me "Never underestimate the power of a woman"; how right he was! She combined the grace and beauty of the skylark and the fragility of the wren with the instincts of a hawk. Hers was a perilous beauty, for all too soon I'd been completely seduced by her. Our intimacy grew daily, until I knew just which buttons to push, and exactly how she'd react. No matter what hour of the day or night, I was never far from her side. I spent sweet hours caressing her, my fingers dancing over her smooth skin, feeling her throb beneath me as she responded to my touch. I don't think I'd ever been happier. Of course, as our journey continued, there were the inevitable distractions, the away missions that kept us apart for days at a time, but unfailingly, I returned to her side in the end. I became extremely possessive of our partnership, to the point where I jealously resented another spending time with her when I couldn't. I tried to distract myself with more holodeck time, a game of volleyball with the boys or Klingon martial arts with B'Elanna, but instinctively I knew we were headed for a showdown. In the heated aftermath of yesterday's incident, when I reamed out the relief at Conn for nearly taking us into an asteroid belt, I guess I gave the game away. As soon as all systems had returned to normal, I was summoned to the Ready Room. The 'Captain' mask was firmly in place when I entered. After offering me coffee, she directed me to the couch and sat down besides me. "I'd like a full explanation of your actions this morning, if you please". Seeing me struggling to find the words, her demeanour softened somewhat. "I think I understand," she said, resting her hand on my arm. She finished with a conspiratorial grin "After all, I love Voyager just as much as you do, Tom". FINIS
